Abstract

|
While nurses confront a wide variety of ethical issues, the core ethical issues for nurses relate to the relationship between nurses and doctors. These issues may be divided into two groups: those that relate to nurses’ ethical judgments and those that arise when nurses do not agree with the medical judgments of attending physicians. This article discusses both of these groups of issues separately. I argue that that the autonomy of nurses should be ensured for nursing ethics to come into existence as a unique form of professional ethics.
